ITN Magazine: Let's talk a little about the history of your band. When did you originally form and is this the original line-up?

Phil: Vaya and Raph’ started first, they recorded a first studio album with other musicians, then I joined them shortly after that and we kept playing together.

RAPHAEL: I met VAYA through a music store in Gland (CH), and she heard that I play the drums. One day, she called me to record the first drums of VAYA’s album. I’ve never left since. It was a big pleasure when Philippe joined us for the live shows. Playing with so talented and connected people is amazing!

VAYA: Hi ITN Magazine, glad to answer to your questions. Well we meet each other on the “music road” step by step; this is Universe Law; when something good has to be built it puts the right persons together☺. And now from 2016 we are sharing the stage together: ti’s powerful!

ITN Magazine: How would you categorize the style of the band?

RAPHAEL : tribal

Phil: It’s between Rock and Hard Rock, Amerindian rock from North America and based on the legend of the white wolf.

VAYA: Completely new? ☺ Sounds between Heaven and Earth.

ITN Magazine: What image do you want your music to convey to your fans?

Phil: The image of a band who has a lot of fun playing together and share it’s passion to an enthusiastic audience!

RAPHAEL: an image that the energy inside of everyone is big.

VAYA: Express yourself as you are respectfully with the others. Be you integrating the “ALL”

ITN Magazine: Who are your influences and how have they shaped your bands sound?

VAYA: My lovely Jim Morrison, and the incredible way of producing of Jack White☺

Phil: Many Bands, many guitarists like Nuno Bettencourt the guitarist of the great band called “Extreme” “Iron Maiden” “AC/DC” “Metallica” “Led Zepplin” “Deep Purple” “Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen Jimmy Hendrix etc. I really like how they play, their sound, their phrasing, they’re a big reference for me!

RAPHAEL: It is more about the people I have met all over the bands I played before

ITN Magazine: Let's talk a little about your latest album what are the listeners in store for with this release ?

Phil: A very powerful music with a great strong voice, a great rhythm, a great contrast in the songs with a lot of dynamic!

VAYA:  Yes right Phil.:) Authentic

RAPHAEL: It is a beautiful double album

ITN Magazine: Where did record your latest release at?

VAYA: We made it in Switzerland to Zad Lab studio and the live part one on a little studio in Vevey: all swiss made;)

Phil: Vaya and Raph’ recorded a song in a big studio in Toronto on January I think!

VAYA: AH yes Phil, you are right. The second album I process we have record a first song in Union Sound , in Toronto

RAPHAEL: Our last record was in Toronto at Union Sound Company with Darren Mcgill. Victoria VAYA is going to Japan next month to shoot the videoclip

ITN Magazine: Producers are a very important factor in recording a good record. Who did you use to produce your record?

Phil: Of course they are, we gotta find the good one!

VAYA: Our producer?VAYA&FREEDOM;)

ITN Magazine: Does the entire band contribute to the writing process?

VAYA: Not yet. But step by step it will, I hope so , they are welcome to share the feather with me;).

Phil: It depends of the circumstances usually Vaya writes the songs, the harmony parts and the lyrics, then we play it together and everybody brings his ideas.

RAPHAEL: I first listen to the demos of VAYA. Then I add my drums according to the energy I would share from those first demos.

ITN Magazine: How do you feel the band has evolved musically and personally over the last year?

RAPHAEL: We are more and more musically connected each other, it’s amazing!

Phil: Oh yes, we all evolved so much since last year! We played a lot, made new songs with new sounds, made great gigs, we went on tour to the east of Europe and to Canada, met great people and we all really had so much pleasure!

VAYA: We are more focus on producing music that can be really powerful on stage. And also creating without restrictions: Exploring your deeper and higher waves.

ITN Magazine: Where do you draw the inspiration for the songs you write?

Phil: Oh it depends a lot, sometimes when I’m at home and I try to create a beautiful melody, or when I’m cooking, lol! Or when I’m outside walking on the street, in the bus, or the train, many possibilities, lol!

VAYA: I love my leather book, my best friend. And my vocals notes on my cellphone.

RAPHAEL: from the energy of mother earth

ITN Magazine: How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?

Phil: It’s important to do something people like, something that touches them to take them with us!

VAYA: It is a part of the vibration of music. Now with the coming up album ( the second one) it is more like… abstract words, lyrics they clearly become a part of the sound.

ITN Magazine: What are your current tour plans, if any?

Phil: We’re going back on tour to Canada on April, then to The States to California and Nevada on July!

RAPHAEL: We are performing for the Bout Festival in Toronto on 13th April at the Hideout!

We will stay all together for one month in order to develop the colour of the next opus. And we are looking for shows in the meantime We will also be in San Francisco from 14th July to perform at the Californian Women’s Music Festival. We should tour for a few weeks in California and Nevada then. We are also planning a tour in Brazil and South America for the end of the year.

ITN Magazine: Describe your live performance for those who have never seen you live?

Phil: On stage we’re usually 4 people, a singer who plays tambourine sometimes, a bassist, a drummer and me on the guitar.

VAYA:  You will feel being the string in between the elders and the future: It’s really powerful.

RAPHAEL: The powerful voices and rhythms are incredible. It wakes up the little native there is in all of us

ITN Magazine: What do you think of the music industry right now?

Phil: There are so many bands and it’s a big competition!

VAYA: It is always a hard question. I don t know. I don’t really like actual music, I am a hard audience. But some of the artists try as we do to keep authenticity alive and I really hope it will work because we are loosing the music quality, even because of the mp3 “format” etc… I want to give the best to our children!

RAPHAEL: It’s is really different from before, financially speaking… I think that when you know how it works, and you are patient, everything will come when everything will be at the top.

ITN Magazine: Did you find it hard to break into the business and what was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome?

Phil:yeah it’s very hard sometimes and we gotta be patient and try again! I don’t really know!

VAYA: ☺ We are still “ breaking into the business” And it will still be the case till we will die even being incredibly successful: stay a hard worker days and nights.

RAPHAEL: We are still breaking into the business, and I think that we will have to work harder and harder.

ITN Magazine: Tell us about your thoughts on your local music scene?

Phil: There are really nice places where we can meet nice people who just come to listen to music or musicians too.

VAYA: I just moved in Toronto so it’s hard to answer on that question.

RAPHAEL: When we started in Switzerland, we did not except a lot from the local scene. We already knew that we would play further. However, we had a really nice welcome

ITN Magazine: How has Social Networking (Facebook,Twitter, etc.) impacted your band?

Phil: It’s a good opportunity to get known by people, friends of us who can share our page to other people and to announce our events!

RAPHAEL: Instagram has been a nice surprise! When we started to use it, we received offers from Canada and that’s how we met Zolla Productions who was in charge of our first canadian tour.

ITN Magazine: Where can our readers find you on the web?

VAYA: our official website where they can find also the rest of Network as Facebook, Instagram, …..
