Let's talk a little about your history and what led you to follow the path of becoming a musician?
Music has always been my passion and I have always been inspired by music. I grew up in the 80's, and I can remember listening to my mother's old lp's and 45's, and the radio back when I was a kid. I played with buddies in bands in High School, and first went on the road with a cover band in the early nineties in Northern Ontario, then again near the end of the nineties in the South-Eastern United States.
How would you categorize the style of your music?
Melodic Rock & Roots Rock with a few hints of Country-Rock.
What image do you want your music to convey to your fans?
Hopefully a positive message, with hope, truth and honesty in the songs that most everyone can relate to.
Who are your influences and how have they shaped your sound?
Many bands and artists throughout the 70's and 80's and early 90's. Melodic rock like Tom Petty, Bon Jovi, Styx, Bryan Adams,
John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Beach Boys, Richard Marx to name just a few. I love the very "melodic" sound.
I also enjoy some newer country-rock stuff like Keth Urban and others.
Let's talk a little about your latest album what are the listeners in store for with this release?
I think my latest release "The Long Road Home" is a very strong record throughout... There is a great vibe, and a nice flow to the songs on the album. Very melodic and rockin' at times, and also somewhat mellower in places for other tracks.
Where did record your latest release at?
Between Vancouver, WA and Cornwall ON, Canada.
Producers are a very important factor in recording a good record. Who did you use to produce your record?
Ron Nevison. (Heart, Bad Company, Damn Yankees, Styx, Night Ranger, Survivor), and many more! :) Ron was fantastic to work with!
How do you feel you have evolved musically and personally over the last year?
I feel I have sort of come full circle, and I am at home with my songwriting and music currently. It's been a long journey, and I feel everything has led me to where I am at today.
Where do you draw the inspiration for the songs you write?
Sometimes personal experiences, sometimes my surroundings, and other times just telling a good story.
How important do you rate the lyrical side of your music?
Very Important. The lyric needs to touch home and resonate with the listener.
What are your current tour plans, if any?
Local shows right now in Eastern Ontario.
Describe your live performance for those who have never seen you live?
Passionate, sometimes very lively and energetic if it's a full band performance. Other times more intimate, or up close and personal if it's an acoustic outing.
What do you think of the music industry right now?
It has changed a lot... Some things for the better, and in other ways I'm not sure? Social media and the internet has made a big difference in how you get your music to the people.
Did you find it hard to break into the business and what was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome?
It's always tough I think. But maybe it always has been as well? Staying focused in an ever changing musical landscape has it's challenges. And personally, overcoming the loss of my parents over the past 10-20 years has been very difficult and challenging.
Tell us about your thoughts on your local music scene?
I'm kind of out in the boonies where I live, 40 minutes south of Ottawa, ON. Although some of the surrounding towns and smaller cities like Kemptville, Cornwall and Kingston have a growing musical landscape over the past few years.
Are there any new and upcoming bands that you are into?
I like like some new Independent Rock Artists like Love Stallion (from Denver). Also songwriter's like Tia McGraff, and some other MTS Management Group label mates. I also like Lyric Dubee (Toronto), and stuff from Bentwood Rocker, (veteran rockers in Kingston, ON).
How has Social Media impacted your Career?
It has definitely helped in promoting to a wider audience.
